Coming from a serial hoarder of matte liquid lipsticks from both brands, I’ll tell you.
The products are actually manufactured by the same company and have been rumoured to have the exact same formula. I’m here to tell you that I don’t know if that’s truly the case. I notice little differences between the two brands (***I wear them both with their respective lip liners and prep my lips the same way), and I’ll break it down:
Both have a wand applicator, which if you ask me, is the best applicator to have for lip products. It glides on super easily, and it’s small so it’s hard to mess up. They are both extremely pigmented. Kylie’s formula goes on a little bit thicker than ColourPop’s, so usually one coat is enough. However, Kylie’s takes forever to dry.
The overall look is the same though, as they both have an ultra-matte finish and look amazing when dried. Just for the simple fact that I feel like I have to use more product when I use ColourPop, it’s Kylie 1-0 for this round.

People often complain about how “drying” liquid lipsticks are. If it is something that you take into consideration, ColourPop’s formula is a lot more hydrating than Kylie’s. Wearing it all day feels more comfortable, as Kylie’s does feel a little bit more dry. But honestly, if you prep your lips the right way it shouldn’t bother you.

To me, all that matters when wearing a liquid lip is how long it lasts. In exchange for how long it takes Kylie’s formula to fully dry, it pays off because Kylie’s definitely lasts longer than ColourPop’s.
I think if I were to compare the two when doing nothing for 12 hours, they would last the same. But in a normal day, you eat, you drink, you lick your lips… and through all that, I probably have to reapply ColourPop once. Kylie’s is pretty much bulletproof.

Both of these formulas are amazingly transfer-free. You can go ahead and kiss your boyfriend without sacrificing your perfect pout 😉

Kylie’s colour selection is growing rapidly, but ColourPop definitely has the wider range of lip colours. It even has some of it’s own “lip kits” to add to the collection now, so Kylie doesn’t have that one-up of perfectly paired lip liners anymore.

I’m not gonna lie, Kylie’s packaging and marketing destroys every single makeup brand. Don’t @ me.

Kylie’s Lip Kits are $29 USD. If you just want to purchase a single liquid lipstick on it’s own, it’s $17.
ColourPop’s single liquid lipsticks are $6. Their lip kits are $18. Still an overwhelming price difference for two products that seem so similar.

In conclusion, the two are extremely similar and comparable, one just has a Kardashian member’s name to it. Not to knock Kylie’s, but don’t just buy an expensive product because of the name. I promise you will slay just as hard using the $6 Ultra-Matte Lip colours from ColourPop. With that being said, both of these brands easily make my Top 5 Best Liquid Lipsticks list, so you’re really in good hands with either.
